Patricia Purvis, Ph.D., is a State of Kansas Licensed Psychologist and an independent practitioner with speciality training in the areas of clinical child psychology, developmental disabilities, and learning disorders.

Dr. Purvis specializes in the assessment and diagnosis of childhood mental health disorders and learning difficulties, parent management training, and therapy for common behavior problems, including ADHD, autism, encopresis/enuresis, selective mutism, anxiety, mild depression, and other disorders.

"My training has been primarily behavioral and cognitive-behavioral in nature," says Dr. Purvis. "That includes identifying the concerns and then using evidence-based therapies for interventions. When families come for therapy, it is important for them to understand that the parents will have a very active part in the process. A youngster's behaviors do not change in a vacuum, but require participation from their support team at home."

Before joining The Therapy Center, Dr. Purvis worked for fourteen years at Children's Mercy Hospital in the Department of Developmental and Behavior Sciences. She also worked at Heartspring in Wichita, KS, for over five years. Her colleagues commend her steady, quiet competence and unconditional compassion. Practice Manager Natalie Cunningham says, "You immediately feel Pat's warmth. She is a brilliant and kind woman."

Dr. Purvis treasures her two children and two grandchildren. She believes, "Children are this country's most valuable resource, and I see intervention and assistance as being so much more positive at an early age."
