Elise Malmberg is a licensed Occupational Therapist and an independent practitioner at The Therapy Center. Elise provides individual assessments and treatment for children from birth through early adolescence who experience developmental challenges (fine motor, visual-perceptual, coordination, sensory processing difficulties and much more).

Elise works with children with a range of abilities. Some of the diagnosis categories that she works with include: Autism Spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, Muscular Dystrophy, Learning Disabilities, and other developmental delays. Some of the intervention techniques used during treatment include Handwriting Without Tears (handwriting skills), How Does Your Engine Run (Sensory Processing), Interactive Metronome (Processing), and Hippotherapy (utilizing horses to assist in treatment).

Ms. Malmberg says, "I may work with a child on improving upper body strength and coordination to enable him to dress independently; address a child's sensory processing difficulties to better enable him to tolerate going to school, church, or a store; or improve a child's visual motor skills to promote better handwriting skills." Treatment is geared toward sequential mastery of developmental skills.

Colleagues describe Elise as energetic, fun, engaging and very effective with a remarkable cross-section of children, families and disorders.

Ms. Malmberg says, "It is so satisfying to watch a child's reaction when he masters a new skill. My mission is to determine, with the families help, the best methods for enabling a child to develop his or her highest level of functional independence with daily activities."
